Why I Go For Villian Roles – Saratu Gidado

Saratu Gidado, a.k.a Daso is perhaps the most famous Kannywood
villain actresses. She’s highly regarded just like the Mexican born
actress, Eugenia Cauduro, who after beginning with modeling, the
naturally born star ventured into acting. She is also believed to be
a perfectionist, who strives to make the world a utopia; to make
each person’s lot in life better; and to become perfect herself. She
is now rated as one of the A-list of the Mexican movie industry.
For Daso, she accepts any role assigned to her by the director.
More or less and in recent times, she’s known for her comic/
wicked roles in most of her movies. “I accept any role giving to me
by my director. Basically I have to go through the script properly in
order to understand the character I am to play, and I bet you most
people enjoy when they watch comic and/or villain roles in movies
because such roles moves them and give them the satisfaction
they are yearning for with so much enthusiasms,” said Saratu.
Asked whether she had situations where she explains to fans and
loved ones, why she had to be a wicked woman in movies, the
Kannywood star smiled and said not always. According to her on
rare occasions she takes time to speak to people close to her
about her character in films. “On a few occasions, I’ve had to take
out time to explain to my loved ones and teeming viewers why I
play mean roles in Kannywood flicks. Not everybody knows the
different between the characters in movies and the real people on
the street. They see us as wicked as we use to appear on the
screed. I therefore take time to do some explanations where
necessary,” explains Daso.
Before delving into Kannywood, Saratu Gidado was a teacher, she
teaches at primary school and for her, teaching and acting comes
naturally, because both professions share similarities.
Daso got her groove into Kannywood when she played and A-role
in ‘Garwashi’ where she was starred as a bad woman. But in the
real life, she is not seen as the ‘devil’ bad and mean woman!
