Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the killing of its
Commanding Officer in charge of Police Mobile Force (MOPOL),
Superintendent of Police Chris L Eza, by a police corporal in
Bauchi town.
According to Bauchi State police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna
Mohammed, who confirmed the development to LEADERSHIP, the
MOPOL commander was shot dead while he was on routine inspection
of officers on stop and check duty on Thursday night.
”The incident happened on the 26/2/2015 at about 23:20hrs, when the
Commanding officer Mopol 10 PMF Bauchi, SP Chris L Eza was shot
by a Police Corporal while on routine Visit at the Stop and search
point along Ahmadu Bello way, Bauchi”, the PPRO recounted.
“The killed senior officer was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa
University Teaching Hospital *(ATBUTH) Bauchi where he was
certified dead by a Medical Doctor and Corpse has been deposited at
the Motuary for postmortem examination”.
LEADERSHIP was informed that the Bauchi state commissioner of
police, Mohammed K Mohammed and his management team today
visited the scene of the shooting from where he ordered for full
investigation of the matter.
Meanwhile, the PPRO said the police suspect was arrested and
detained while investigation into the matter.
No one has ascertained as to why the police corporal chose to fire the
shot at his superior officer.
