.Appointed Honourary Special Adviser to Gov. Shettima

Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima has announced the appointment of Alhaji Mohammed Makinta as his Honourary Special Adviser on Projects.

Makinta was one of the leading Governorship aspirants in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Borno State ahead of the 2015 elections before his recent defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC, along with his structure and supporters.

Shettima, speaking through his media aide, Isa Gusau, in a statement made available to KSM News said his choice of Makinta as Honourary Adviser on Projects was due to Makinta's record of experience in public service and execution of numerous public and corporate projects over the years. The Governor said his administration will no doubt find Makinta's contributions very valuable, in its determination to remodel Borno State and make life more suitable for its citizens.

Makinta's appointment which is with immediate effect, Shettima added, was done based on his merit as a patriotic citizen of Borno who served the State in many capacities.

The new Honourary Adviser who hails from Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, holds a Honourary Degree on Quantity Survey from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria and was a Member of the Quantity Surveyors' Registration Board of Nigeria amongst several professional qualifications.

As an astute politician, Makinta was elected Member, House of Representatives to represent Maiduguri Metropolitan Federal Constituency of Borno State under the defunct UNCP. He was the first Borno State Chairman of the All Peoples Party which became ANPP before merging with other political parties to become APC in 2014.

Makinta was Commissioner for Education and Health as well as one time Deputy National Chairman of the Alliance for Democracy, AD before the AD in Borno State moved into the PDP. He emerged PDP's candidate for the House of Representatives for the MMC before aspiring for the 2015 Governorship under the PDP as one of the leading contenders in what later became a controversial primary election which produced Alhaji Mohammed Imam, a development that is currently being challenged in court by Alhaji Gambo Lawan who until his substitution in December, 2014, was Governorship candidate of the PDP in Borno State.
